Samsung has presented a new range of Odyssey OLED, Smart Monitor and ViewFinity monitors. The South Korean tech giant has added AI technology in several monitors, among others, supported by its own AI processor.
The new Odyssey OLED G8 gaming monitor now presented by Samsung (the G80SD model) is the manufacturer’s first monitor to feature AI hardware. This technology is supported by an onboard NQ8 AI Gen3 processor. This is the same chip that is the same processor the manufacturer is using in its 8K TV from this year. Among other things, the AI technology handles delivering the right resolutions when gaming and/or watching TV, especially when combined with the monitor’s Smart TV apps.
In addition, the Odyssey OLED G8 and the also new Odyssey OLED G6 (the G60SD model) monitors have several features to prevent burn-in. These include the new Samsung OLED Safeguard+ technology, which prevents burn-in by adding a pulsating heat pipe to the monitor. The Dynamic Cooling System disperses heat five times more effectively than the older method. The monitor also automatically lowers the brightness of static images such as logos and task bars to prevent burn-in.
The South Korean tech giant’s further included OLED Glare Free technology ensures clearer colors and fewer reflections. Furthermore, Core Lighting+ technology provides ambient lighting that synchronizes with the screen during gaming and other activities. Samsung also worked hard to reduce reflections on the Galaxy S24 line of smartphones.
Also AI in Smart Monitor models
The now also introduced new range of Samsung Smart Monitor models consists of the M8 (M80D), the M7 (M70D) and the M5 (M50D model). The top model, the 32-inch M8, also has integrated AI technology driven by an NQM AI processor. This allows, among other things, AI upscaling to increase lower resolutions to a simulated 4K and Active Voice Amplifier Pro AI to analyze ambient noise and optimize sound for users accordingly.
The Smart Monitor M7 is available in 32- and 43-inch models with 4K UHD resolution and high refresh rates. The M5 model is available in 27- and 32-inch versions that include FHD resolution.
2024 ViewFinity models
Samsung also presented another series of ViewFinity models for creative professionals. These are the ViewFinity S8 (S80UD, S80D) monitors, the ViewFinity S7 (S70D) monitor and the ViewFinity S6 (S60UD and S60D) models.
These monitors are available in 24-, 27-, 32-inch models with different resolution options. Prices for all new Samsung monitors have not yet been announced.
